Between January 1957, August 1959 Picasso text "El Entierro del Conde de Orgaz" about his native Andalusia, the title was created inspired by El Greco's eponymous painting in the church of San Tomé in Toledo. His lithographed texts, supplemented by a foreword by his friend Raphael Alberti, the artist created a series of 16 illustrations. The title page "trozo de Alimbar" originated in 1939, here present as a signed and numbered piece of "Tirage du livre", edited by Gustavo Gili, Ediciones de la Cometa, Barcelona 1969.
