Note the old woman with whom the motif of »Celestina«, already the subject of a painting from 1903
(L. 1183), returns. This dueña, depicted here for the first time in the lithographic work, appears more often as one of the essential characters in Picasso's repertoire, up to the etchings of 1968 that illustrate »La Célestine« by Fernando de Rojas (Cramer 149). No. 587 was created on the same day.
This artwork is included in the collection of the MOMA, object number 410.1954
