Pablo Picasso
The Goat, 1954.
Gelatin-based photolithographic print transferred from photographic negative on Dark baryta layer with metallic reflective sheen
Signed, dated, located, and dedicated lower right: "For my dear friend Pellegrini. Picasso. Antibes, January 30, 1954." Blue ballpoint.
Size: 40 x 50 cm.
Provenance: Former collection of Jos Pellegrini, a friend of Pablo Picasso.
Signature appears fluid, confident, and consistent with informal dedications from the Vallauris period.
This work reproduces an original painting created in 1946 by Pablo Picasso in oil, charcoal, and pencil, currently in the Picasso Museum in Antibes.+
The goat motif is closely connected to Picasso’s personal environment, including the well-documented goat at his Vallauris residence.
Such signed photolithographic prints are consistent with informal personal gifts.
The collector name Jos Pellegrini is recorded on the archives national of culture of France
